Don’t let your hard work go to waste! Here are a few post workout tips to help maximize your recovery and ensure you get the best possible results from your workout.

 

  • Take whey protein after training to speed up recovery and build lean muscle
  • After training is the best time to eat carbohydrates as they will be used to refuel your muscles and not stored as body fat
  • Save coffee for before training, taking it after will increase levels of a stress hormone called cortisol which is bad for recovery
  • Instead, take vitamin C which lowers cortisol and helps recovery
  • Eat a handful of blueberries, raspberries or cherries around 30 minutes after your shake, the antioxidants help to decrease muscle soreness
  • Build muscle overnight by eating protein before bedtime, cottage cheese, greek yoghurt and whey protein are all excellent sources
